the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow ( a "deleted scene"
from Monty Python and the Holy Grail) To settle their feud, King
Arthur and the Bridge Keeper enlisted the help of the renowned
enchanter, Tim, to determine the flight velocity of swallows. Two
specimen, on of African origin, the other European, were acquired
and examined.
After some careful measurments, Tim came up with the following

Arthur and the Bridge Keeper enlisted the help of the renowned
enchanter, Tim, to determine the flight velocity of swallows. Two
specimen, on of African origin, the other European, were acquired
and examined.
After some careful measurments, Tim came up with the following
motion equations
(Velocity V given in miles/hour) describing their flight:
African swallow: v' = 1587 - 3(V)2 ( V is squared)
European swallow: v' = 1250 - 2(V)2 <<<<< V is
squared
a) without solving the 2 equations, determine the maximum velocity
( i.e. its limiting velocity) for each species.
b) solve the European swallow's equation to find its velocity as a
function of time.
leave your answer in implicit form.
