How can I find information on a painting I have, by an artist named "Monte" or "monTe". I checked with some of the sites available, but have yet to find this specific artist. Some of the sites want money to look around their site, but with no guarantee of the exact artist being in their archives. Anybody know of this artist?

I bought a very large oil on canvas at an estate sale in 2011. The artist signed in red his signature Monte. It is in print form and about 3/4" lettering and underscored with a red slash mark. The painting is very dark and has white and brown birds with some chicks as well as a large brown and white rabbit. The animals are together on a hillside above a villa seen in the distance below. It has a old world feel about it. I would love to know more about this painter.

I have a piece by this artist and would love to know more about him. I really want to know if it is valuable. I would love to sell it. My piece has an adult reading to a little girl. Old world feel to it. It is entitled Story Time by Monte.

Sal monte has a reputation but I don't think he would leave out his first name.
