Can I rent a blimp. How much would it cost?

I prefer Goodyear, but any brand advertising will be ok...Met-Life, Family Channel, etc.

  • To hire a small one costs in the vacinity of $10,000 to $15,000 per flight hour, including the time it takes it to fly to whatever place you want it to appear. In other words, unless there is one based locally, it is prohibitive. An example is a blimp based in San Francisco. Lets say you live 25 miles away from where its based and you want it to fly over your house for 10 minutes and flash a message like "Happy 16th Birthday John Smith". That will set you back about $25,000.

  • The comedian Gallagher used one on a show once, but to get one big enough to carry just one passenger will cost some real bucks. At an airshow a few years ago a home nuilt design was going for $250,000. The small commercial blimps cost way more, plus, you needs a trained crew to land and launch. They really are not the most practical things.
