Korea was a war between armies, North Korea and China vs South Korea and the United Nations.
Vietnam had a big Communist backed insurgency, the Viet Cong, besides the war between armies.
North Korean troops almost overran all of South Korea, and the UN/U.S. troops almost overran all of North Korea.
U.S. troops never invaded North Vietnam, and North Vietnam didn’t overrun the South until after the U.S. left.
Chinese troops fought in Korea.
Aside from some “advisors”, no Chinese troops fought in Vietnam.
Both were between Communist dictatorships in the north, and US backed dictatorships in the South.
Both ended with negotiated treaties rather than clear victories. The treaty in Korea lasted. The treaty in Vietnam was ended when the North conquered the South in 1975. Curiously, we have normal relations with Communist Vietnam, but view North Korea as a rogue state.
Korea is much further in the past, shorter, less controversial, and with fewer U.S. dead, probably why Vietnam gets more ink.
The Korean War was UN sanctioned to repel invasion from a foreign country (North Korea’s invasion of South Korea) and was fought by a U.S.-led multinational force whereas the Vietnam War was a civil war in South Vietnam during which North Vietnam supported one side and America the other. Unlike the Korean War, the Vietnam War was not UN sanctioned. Therefore the Korean War is more similar to the 1991 Persian Gulf War which was also UN sanctioned (against the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990) than to the Vietnam War.

Also, Korea and Vietnam were both controlled by Japan during World War II; but unlike Vietnam which was controlled by the French, Korea was never a colony of either the British, the French, the Dutch or the Portuguese (the four imperialistic powers who controlled much of the Asian continent aside from the Philippines and Thailand)

THE COMMUNIST PARTY WANTED TO TAKE OVER THE SOUTH AND THEIR LAND. BOTH WARS WERE OF THIS CAUSE. AND OF COURSE, THE USA WAS INVOLVED ON BOTH EVENTS. VIETNAM STARTED IN 1957. LATER, THE FIRST GROUND TROOPS LANDED IN VIETNAM. THE US LOST IN VIETNAM. A PEACE TREATY WAS DONE FOR THE KOREAN WAR.
