A prefix an affix placed before a root word.
An example of a prefix is ex meaning out or out of, and you have the word export, to carry out. Attach the prefix im meaning in or into and you have import, to carry in.
A suffix is An affix added to the end of a word.An example of a suffix is Annoyance,
annoy meaning irritating and ance meaning the act of.Attach ance to annoy and you get annoyance meaning an act or instance of annoying.
