Ok so I've always had a problem doing simple math in my head and normally i resort to using my fingers lol. Especially some multiplication. I know I am not stupid, at all. I am in all advanced classes, never failed anything. In fact usually I pass with mid to high 80's. Math and Global were always my weak subjects but I never did bad on any of the exams. So I know I am smart. My problem is mainly with simple math in my head. When I ask for help from a teacher and they help me through a complicated problem, it freaks me out when they ask me something like "so 8*7 is?" and I can't think about it. It's embarrassing. I don't get why I am a smart person and have that stupid problem. And advice?
Thanks guys 🙂 you don't know how happy I am I'm not the only one with this problem. Sometimes people look at me like an idiot when I get those simple questions wrong and I feel pretty bad about it. Even though I usually have higher grades than them :/

I can totally relate to you. I'm on grade
10 advanced math and I'm getting mid 80s.
I have an 89 average but I can't do basic math. I was also at the front of the class getting help on a question. The teacher asked me what half if 36 was and I froze.
Just could not do it. It was awhile ago and I still feel stupid and embarrassed so your not alone. And I'm glad I'm not the only one.🙊☺️😊

Some peoples brains work differently than others. I am in graduate school and got straight A's and B's in high school and college. I still can't do math in my head. Even simple addition is impossible for me. Some people are better at some things than others. I can remember scientific names and think of logical answers to problems better than other people can. I can't do math and am tone deaf.

The best thing to do, and it worked for me like a charm, is to use flash cards. I spent a week or two on it. Every evening my Dad would test me and by the end I could do it all no problem.
(7x8 is 56) 🙂 Hope this helps!

Sorry I can't help, but I have the same problem. I excelled in several algebra courses and calculus, but simple addition and multiplication evades me. Oh well, it's likely because we have deeper things to dwell on.

i was rubbish at maths, but could always do simple maths in my head, i think its more about how good your memory is rather than being "smart"
