2.) It is polar due to the hydroxyl group (-OH). The O pulls electrons towards itself from the H atom, creating a dipole in the hydroxyl group.

The glycerine molecule( C3H5(OH)3) is higly polar molecule due to presence of three very polar hydroxyl groups attached to the main carbon chain. The structure accounts for the high boiling point,high melting point and viscosity to glycerine compared to other molecules with similar functional groups and molar mass, due to the number of strong hydrogen bonds experienced per molecule of gylcerine.

It's polar. If you look at the structure on Wikipedia, you see three C-OH bonds. The relatively high electronegativity of the oxygen atom shifts the electron density away from the carbon atom, creating a polar bond.
