I just got a new tattoo and I've been using bag balm on it. Is that good or no and also what kind of lotion would be good to use on it?

I have 13 tattoos and for all of mine I have used Bepanthon as this is what is recommended by most tattooists. Apply it twice a day as any more than this is too much and make sure you pat it dry after washing/showering.
If you are unable to get this cream then I would suggest Savlon(not germaline)
Bepanthon will also reduce the scabbing and use it till it looks healed.

No, dont use bag balm. You want your tattoo and skin to breath and bag balm wont allow that. Plus the petroleum in it will dry out your skin. Dont use Vaseline, neosporin or anything like that. Even A&D ointment isnt the best to use as it doesnt let your skin breath properly.
Use a fragrance free lotion 3-5 times a day for at least a week. I used Curel lotion in the blue bottle. I have 6 fair sized tattoos and all I have ever used is Curel lotion and I have never had any problems. If it feels or looks dry, put lotion on it.

Bag balm is fine. I am allergic to the antibiotic type creams and have used bag balm on multiple tattoos with no bad results. I even take it with me to the artist for them to use. The main thing is about keeping the tattoo moisturized.

i do not know about bag balm or not but i am 90% sure you do not want to use lotion. the best thing i have been told to use by a tattoo artist is A&D Original Ointment i have 3 tattoos myself and it dose one hell of a job in my personal opinion.

I have used bacitracin for all of my tattoos. It was recommended by my artist and has always worked well.
