need help with math problem… calculate 40% of 225?

I know 40/100 which is 0.40 x 225 which is 90… but if i am doing this without a calculator, how do i get 90… do i subtract or add…

  • Multiply like you did with the calculator. You don’t have to add or subtract

    .40 x 225 = 90.

  • 40% of 225 is 90

  • the answer of 90 is correct. to get it, take 10% of 225 = 22.5 then multiply that by 4 (22.5 x 4 = 90) or easier, multiply by 2 (22.5 x 2 = 45) then again by 2 (45 x 2 = 90).

    225/100=2.25

    2.25*40=90

    your confusing your self by saying subtract or add

    if you want to find a percentage of something then, divide by 100, times by the percentage your finding e.g. 12% of 500

    500/100=5

    5*12=60
