Has to be things that are small and easy to carry. Any help would be great. I’m out of ideas.
Zen – your answer has to do exactly with what part of my question? Just wanted 2 points?
Tooymp and Prairie Girl -Having a bad day, are we? I was just asking to see if perhaps someone might have an unusual “I” word – something different from what everyone else in his class is bringing in. Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it. Perhaps both of you would like to come to his school with him as the village idiots. Next time, don’t bother answering – it’s a waste of everyone’s time.

Running around the house trying to fill the “I” letter bag?
Try these in addition to those found in other answers:
Insect (It has to be 6 legs as my 4yr old corrected my plastic centipede addition to the bag)
Ice Pack/Block (preferably not frozen otherwise condensation may blow the bottom of the bag out)
Incense
iPod (an old one the you won’t mind having lost or stolen)
Instrument (Cheesy way around a whistle, flute, harmonica or other random thing)
Irish (Something green, shamrock-like preferably non-alcoholic)
Italian (Seasoning? I thought of adding it but wanted to make a better effort)
Inch (demonstrated with a ruler)
Indicator (Some miscellaneous gauge or something)
Indigo (Dark blue dye)
Infant (Baby doll)
Infantry (Little green army man- or woman these days)
Insignia (Gucci bag or family crest etc)
Infect (Have you little one demonstrate by coughing and sneezing on everyone in range)
Good luck.
I did better today than usual while the other parents at drop-off were looking around for support
and solace in explaining their meager attempt and results.
One actually had an eyeball in the bag.
I didn’t break it to them.

I’m guessing that’s an upper case I and not a lower case L.

PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS (also spelled PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOKONIOSIS) = a lung disease caused by breathing in particles of siliceous volcanic dust.
This is the longest word in any English dictionary. However, it was coined by Everett Smith, the President of The National Puzzlers’ League, in 1935 purely for the purpose of inventing a new “longest word”. The Oxford English Dictionary described the word as factitious. Nevertheless it also appears in the Webster’s, Random House, and Chambers dictionaries.

Is coming up with nouns that begin with “i” really that difficult for you?
Do you have a dictionary?
I have a very obvious “i” noun in mind, and all you’d have to do is walk yourself right in.
