quick physics question?

Two stones are launched from the top of a tall building. One stone is thrown in a direction 30.0 above the horizontal with a speed of 12.0 ; the other is thrown in a direction 30.0 below the horizontal with the same speed.

Which stone lands ƒᴀʀтher away from the building? (Neglect air resistance.)

1 Answer

  • The stone launched above the horizontal will travel further because it can be shown that it spends more time in the air.

The difference appears in the initial velocity condition of the vertical component motion.
