Seattle Metro bus: Re-using Transfers?

Does anyone know the order of everything? There's a color code and a letter code to each pass, but I don't know which day goes to which pass. Something I usually wouldn't resort to. Need it.

Cheating the bus system is stealing. You are taking a service with no intention of paying the established fare, that is stealing from every tax paying citizen and fare paying passenger who contributes their share to the operating cost of the buses.

Anyway, why don't you just make a habit of asking people who are getting off the bus if you can have their transfer slip.

  • King County Metro Transfer Color

  • KCM Transit transfers are created using a simple formula which combines two basic elements, color and single letter forms.

Transfer colors are comprised of six (6) different hues: Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink & Purple.

    Likewise, there are eight (8) letter forms used as well: A, D, H, J, N, S, T & X.

Every transfer color is paired with each letter form creating a total of 48 unique color/letter transfer combinations.

Knowing just when they use which lies the difficult task. Fortunately, the prediction key for this is relatively simple as well. Basically, each transfer color rotates daily in sequential, alphabetical order (as shown above: Black, Blue, Green, etc.). The letters follow suit in a likewise pattern (A, D, H, etc.).

For example, the transfer one day is Blue N the next would be Green S. Then Orange T, Pink X, Purple A, and so on.

Occasionally KCM shakes things up by repeating colors or using the same letter twice in a row, etc. but it always returns to course.

  • It won't stop until people routinely band together in some sort of posse, mob, gang or incorruptible, efficient and completely rational judicial system with sufficient checks and balances and take out the people who've harmed an innocent person, with extreme prejudice. If you were this person's family member wouldn't you hunt down the killers personally and execute them and their families once the law didn't do anything about it? Wouldn't that be the right thing to do regardless of what the law says? I don't know I'm asking. 30+ years as an arm-chair *** internet vigilante. (It's spelled c, u, m, and it's a Latin word meaning a transition but Y!A is so censored I can't speak Latin here to get my meaning across. FU Y!A.)

  • colors and letters are changed daily- it's random- there are also time stamped so usually one must use them within an hr or so from issue

so unless you know someone who works for metro and can give you a heads up about what color/letter they are using that day you can't reuse transfers
