The 1.00 cm long second hand on a watch rotates smoothly. (a) What is its angular velocity? (b) What is the speed of the tip of the hand?

Please HELP ME WITH THIS.

and also PLEASE EXPLAIN IT as you can.

I don't understand this angular velocity,acceleration etc. so nicely.

  • a)

    Angular velocity w = angle(radians)/time(sec)

    For a second hand, the angle is 2π radians and the time is 60 sec;

    w = 2π/60 =0.1047 rad/sec

    b) Vtip = w*r = 0.1047*1.0 = 0.1047 cm/sec
