C. The therapies have to be objectively tested and statistically shown to be independently effective.
The source would be the scientific method and the definitions of the terms...you will have to look them up to verify yourself...but research support means ᴘᴇᴇr reviewed support, and research must present evidence based arguments (in this case therapies) to be ᴘᴇᴇr reviewed.
A, B, and D would describe things like expert opinions, observation based conjectures, and descriptive theories - which aren't the same thing as research.
