O.K i am in a tumbling class. Tumbling is like gymnastics except ONLY the floor exercisee of gymnastics. No beam no bar no vault. The one answer said the most you will learn is a backhand spring. Not true. There is advanced tumbling where you learn stuff like aerials back tucks ect.....i guess you could compare it to cheerleading but you don't do cheers and motions and stuff it is just mearly flips and stuff.

What Is Tumbling Classes

In tumbling you do basic gymnastics things, you do not do bar or beam. The most complicated thing you would do would be a backhandspring or like a front or back tuck. If you take lessons tumbling usually consists of smaller groups. Tumbling isn't hard at all.

Okay so I am in gymnastics and I used to dance so here goes: Tumbling: you will probably burn more calories and it is fun but it takes a lot of work and you need to be able to deal with not being able to get a flip or something every night. Dance: I find that it is more fun and it will be EXTREMELY good for your flexibility if you do contemporary or jazz. Also you will probably do less sitting around waiting for a coach to help you! I hope this helped! (If I were you I would go to dance!!!)

Tumbling is basically gymnastics minus beam, bars, and vault. All you do is floor and tumble and stuff.

tumbling is not like cheerleading really. you don't do stunts or actually cheer, you just do flips like cartwheels, or when you get more advanced, you do thinks like back handsprings or back tucks and then combinations like roundoff back handspring or roundoff tucks and then layouts and stuff. no you don't do bars, beam or vault. its mostly like a floor exercise, its not even REALLY floor exercise though, because there is no dancing involved. you just do flips.
