what does ‘don’t meet the bar’ mean?

  • It means the person/object/thing doesn't meet the standards they are expected to meet. For example "the bar" is the level they are supposed to be at, but they are only half way there.

  • Don't meet the bar is a colloquialism for not doing as well on something as you should.
