What does it mean if someone says they are “precious cargo”?

• The other two answers aren't necessarily correct. Precious cargo is just something that is considered important and vital to keep safe. Like if a life saving drug was being shipped across sea, that would be considered precious cargo.

  Moms and Dads say it a lot when their daughters go on dates with guys. They say "drive safe, you have precious cargo", or a guy will say about his girlfriend "I have precious cargo I need to protect". Basically it is saying they need to keep you safe because you're very important to someone.

  It is actually a rather cute thing to be said 🙂
