I'm Catholic, but I am going to church with my boyfriend who is baptist this Sunday. I have no idea what to wear. I normally dress up jeans and wear nice blouses. My closet isn't full of what would normally be considered church clothes. I don't want to be under dressed or over dressed and I dont want to be disrespectful. I have a southern dress that I wear with my cowgirl boots. I've worn this to my church and out to dinner but would it be ok to wear to a baptist church? Someone please help me. I'll go out and buy something if I have to, but even then I don't know what ti buy. Any suggestions?

Any thing you mentioned will be just fine at his Church.I go to a Baptist Church and many wear jeans all the time.My Church is conservative and some wear dresses, shorts in the summer, jeans and sneakers,or dressed to the hilt.I always wear a nice shirt, but depends on the week for the type of pants or shoes I wear.

Only those who are trying to re-inforce Levitical laws, which we (as Gentiles) were never under to begin with. God cares more about the condition of our hearts than what clothes we're wearing. He cares more about what's inside than outward appearance. "The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." -1 Samuel 16:7 In Colossians 3:12, believers are instructed to "clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." As long as we're clothing ourselves in this manner, it doesn't matter if outwardly we're wearing faded jeans and a t-shirt. Just because someone dresses in fine, expensive clothes doesn't mean their heart is right with God or that their worship is more acceptable to Him. To respectfully disagree with another poster, I'm Southern Baptist, and our church (can't speak for the others) does not enforce any type of dress code. Our Pastor is usually found wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and flipflops. We want people from all walks of life to feel comfortable in coming to or visiting our church. It would be a shame if someone missed out on hearing about Christ because they thought they didn't have good enough clothes to wear to church. Christ accepts us where we are; why should His church do any less?

If you have a nice pants suit or a dress either one would be acceptable. Best thing to do is ask what most people wear to church. In some areas especially rural areas baptist church can be pretty informal but still best to ask him since he attends pretty regularly.

Ok to dress the way you would for the Catholic church. You need to consider that if you are a Catholic, then you may need to become Baptist to marry your boyfriend, or he would need to become Catholic. Then, someone's parents are likely going to be upset that their child is changing churches and denominations. Also, you need to be pure going into marriage, so you shouldn't be talking about getting pills to prevent having a child out of marriage. Then, your parents would be even more upset. Sounds like you need to draw closer to God, pray about what to do, and be careful -- do what God wants you to do.
Ways to stay connected to God's path include loving God and Jesus Christ, obeying God's ways, daily Bible reading, daily prayer for yourself and others, getting to church, having your church prayer group and/or pastor pray for you, fasting with prayer for a higher level of prayer, getting with other Christians and doing a Bible study, singing hymns to God, taking communion with the church, helping and loving others, expressing your gratitude to God for His help in your life by telling others of your progress and helping them draw closer to God too, tithing, volunteering at church. Continue to turn from sins and seek God's forgiveness in your life as you live your daily life. God guide your life.

A fried chicken dress. Hahahaha!

a bustier with nylons and garters is acceptable as long as helmet hair is worn.

nothing beyond that which god blessed you with at birth
any more is an attempt to hide sin, showing lack of faith!
