  • Bart doesn't go to Golden Gate Park your fastest option is to get off Bart at Civic Center and transfer to Muni's N Judah Line and get off near 28th Avenue and walk North through the park, Or you could get off at Powell Street and take the 5 Fulton bus to 28th and walk south to the meadow [shorter walk]

A good resource for planning trips around the bay area using public transportation is

They can do door to door directions and give you fare info and an estimate of the amount of time it will take to travel to your destination.

  • The N-Judah MUNI Metro (light rail) line runs parallel to Golden Gate Park. If you're heading for the museums, get off at the "Judah and 9th Avenue" stop. The 9th Avenue entrance is closest to the park's cultural precinct.

MUNI shares the four subway stations in Downtown San Francisco (Civic Center, Powell Street, Montgomery Street, and Embarcadero) with BART, so it is an easy transfer from any of those stations.

Don't even bother to go upto street level. Just transfer directly from BART to MUNI at Embarcadero station. The trains are faster and more comfortable than the buses anyway. And even finding the bus stops is time-consuming.

  • BART only runs through downtown, the Mission district and south to Daly City. There are no branch lines that go near GG Park. I have to know what part of GG Park do you want, so I can suggest the bus lines. Here are links to show you a BART map and the MUNI bus lines in S.F. Check the .pdf file to see where bus lines are near GG Park.
