What is the difference between “require of me” vs. “require from me”?

• I see the difference being: require OF me - needed from me as a person eg: I am required to protect my children.

  Required FROM me - I am required to pay my bill by the due date.

  In other words, I see the difference as 'of' as being 'of myself', not an object. 'From', being an object you can give. I hope this makes sense as I know what I am trying to say but I am not sure I am explaining it properly. Anyway I hope this helps.
