What is the electronic configuration of Francium?

I worked it out but it seems all wrong. I am looking for short, detailed facts why Francium is most reactive element in Group 1. Plus, is the electronic configuration for Flourine 2,8,1 or 2,7? Just checking.

  • Electron Configuration For Francium

  • Francium Electron Configuration

  • Francium, (Fr) has 87 Electrons in 7 Energy Shells.

    I don’t profess to be, nor want to become, an Atomic Scientist so, I’ll give the simple version of the Electronic Configuration. All this ‘s’, ‘p’ ..etc..Sub-shells give me the willies as I’m just not interested.

    The Shells are labeled ‘K’ through ‘Q’

    Electrons in each shell are as follows…

    K = 2.

    L = 8.

    M = 18.

    N = 32

    O = 18,

    P = 8

    Q = 1

    It’s the outer shell valence electron that makes it so reactive.

    Sorry, I missed your 2nd part. Fluorine (F) electrons are in 2 shells…

    K Shell = 2 and L Shell = 7.

  • Well the guys above have given you the config of it but, in simple terms it is so reactive because of the size of the surrounding electron cloud, along with the atomic instabilities mentioned above. A few important facts to remember how ever is that francium is on of the rarest elements on earth, usually only 8 to 10g exist a one time there you how have huge difficultly getting enough together to react with water or worse acid. Its also radioactive, so it wont stay as francium for very long!

  • 1 electron

  • Electron config for F is

    1s^2, 2s^2, 2p^5

    or noble gas config

    [He] 2s^2 2p^5

    Francium is reactive, because the activity increases as you move down the group 1A

    If you put Sodium or Potassium in water, its a cute joke, because it fizzes a little bit, but if you want to see a reaction of Cesium or Francium, You need to go to a river or an ocean, and duck and cover when the element collides with the water!

    1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 3d10 4s2 4p6 5s2 4d10 5p6 4f14 5d10 6s2 6p6 7s1 Z=87 The fact you have 7s1 prooves that Fr belongs to the first group . it is an alkali

  • francium is more rective because its oxidation state is +1. And it can react with other metals by combining with it due to its oxidation state.

    it has atomic number87, elements above atomic number 82 are more reactive because it will be having more neutrons to stabilise the positive charges in nucleu.s
