i meant x^2 plus x^2

If the question is x^2 + x^2 then the answer is definitely 2x^2.
The exponent doesn't change, just the base. Think of it this way, one apple plus one apple is ...yes, two apples. It's the same with x and other variables.

RE:
whats x2 plus x2 equal?

This makes no sense, you do not need to add anything to complete the square. You could complete the square if this was quadratic but it is only a linear expression.

x squared is written on a computer as x^2
x^2 + x^2 = 2x^2

x^2 + x^2
= 2x^2

if it is 2x + 2x then its 4x
if its 1x2+1x2 then its 4
if its x^2 +x^2 then its 2x^2

x^2 + x^2 = 2x^2
See it like this:
1x^2 + 1x^2 = 2x^2
add the coefficients. 1 + 1 = 2
easy, isn't it? 😀

if you mean x^squared + x^squared it is 2x^squared
if you mean 2x+2x (written like that in the text book with the 2 out front) then its 4x

2x^2
