what do equations and inequalities look like?

If it's got the symbol:
" = " in it, then it's an equation.
If it's got any one or more of the following symbols:
" > ", " ≥ " , " < " , or " ≤ " in it, it's an inequality.

Equations always contain an equal sign: =
Inequalities must include one or more inequality sign(s):
< (less than)
â¤ (less than or equal)
> (greater than)
â¥ (greater than or equal)
